COACHING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Helps select, lead, and direct a staff of coaches at the varsity, junior varsity, and freshman levels.
- Shares responsibility for the sport and its ASB budget with athletic administration.
- Directs all phases of a successful sport program, including in-season, off-season, and summer.
- Teaches athletes to perform sound, safe fundamental techniques of the sport.
- Recruits student athletes on campus.
- Maintains positive community and press relations.
- Maintains open lines of communication with parents through seasonal team parent meetings, film nights, and parent nights.
- Establish season and long-range goals for the program and players.
- Promotes multi-sport participation of student athletes.
- Maintains open line of communication with school, staff, athletic administration, and promotes the policies of the school and athletic department.
- Appropriately promotes athletes to college recruiters.
- Monitors student attendance and academic performance.
- Assists parents with the development of a sport booster organization.
- Together with booster organization, advises/promotes/supports fund raising activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a valid California teaching credential authorizing teaching at the secondary level [necessary should a teaching position become available in your authorized area(s)].
- Successful sport coaching experience at the high school, community, college, or university level.
- Knowledge of CIF Blue Book and District rules that apply to the sport and student eligibility.
- Technical knowledge of the sport.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful teaching experience, curricular instruction methodology knowledge (necessary for a teaching position).
- Successful experience working and fund raising with the booster club or other athletic support groups.
- Experience promoting high school athletic programs to the media.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with students, parents, and booster organizations.
- Be a positive role model for students and parents.
- Evidence of a professional demeanor on and off the field, court, campus, pool deck and in the community.
- Places high emphasis on loyalty to the school organization.
- Honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship.
- Dedicated and committed to success.
- Motivates and inspires student-athletes and coaches throughout the program.
- Skilled in working with students, parents, other teachers, and athletic and school administrative staff in a positive way.
- Places high emphasis on student academic development in addition to physical development.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The selection will be based upon:
- The candidate's possession of the qualifications and considerations noted above.
- The endorsement of the candidate by previous supervisors, colleagues, etc.
- The endorsement of the candidate by the individuals involved in the selection process.
SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT
Appropriate stipend as indicated on the N-MUSD Role and Recompense Schedule.
