Channel 67 is operated and programmed by the students of Costa Mesa High School's TV production class. The hours of operation are from 8 am to 11 pm, seven days a week. The programming includes educational programs from TOC (Telecommunications of Orange County), along with student produced works, high school sports programs, band concerts, and choir concerts. Programs for broadcast are encouraged from all schools in the Newport Mesa Unified School District.

Many programs can be requested by teachers, and recorded for classroom use. All subject related areas are included. Math, science, parenting skills, social subjects, history, reading and writing programs and visual arts are just a few of the programs that can be requested. (see TOC manual for a complete listing of subjects/titles) TOC is a consortium of member schools who have joined together to purchase full rights to utilize these high-quality media resources. This system offers teachers liberal access to programs as well as the ability to maintain a media collection that supports their curriculum goals, through the extended copyright clearances that TOC offers to member schools. The NMUSD is a member of TOC.

Programs are broadcast weekly during regularly scheduled time slots and also in blocks for convenient off-air recordings. Blockfeeds refer to the back-to-back scheduling of several programs from one series so that a teacher can efficiently and quickly build a collection of media resources.

Several hours of broadcast time are left open every week, so that member teachers of the NMUSD have the benefit of being able to select only those programs that they want scheduled during a given month. This means that teachers never have to worry about missing a broadcast, because a repeat can always be scheduled. Teachers may also borrow tapes from the video tape library located at the SIMC on Bear Street. School produced programs related to classroom activities or special projects are encouraged. If your school has a special speaker, program, after school activity or assembly, please share it with us. (Note: presenters and assembly presenters must have permission releases before being broadcasted.) Channel 67 is the only NASA feed to the Costa Mesa community. The programs broadcasted by NASA are public domain, and can be copied and used in the classroom. Channel 67 covers each Board of Education meeting "live" every other Tuesday. The students and staff of KMESA help in the production of the live board meetings. If your school is in need of help in the production of educational videos, teacher lessons for broadcast or a informational videos on your school, please contact KMESA at our email address: or call 424-8749. We are willing to assist you in your needs, but require your school to shoot the footage on VHS, SVHS, 8MM OR HI 8. We can not do VHSC recorded at a slow speed.
